Mona Lisa
Probably one of the most famous pieces of art painted by Leonardo da Vinci. This painting depicts Leonardo da Vinci's inner self as well as his depiction of beauty. It is now considered an ico of the Renaissance. The Mona Lisa is most likely the husband of a florintine merchant so the gaze would be meant for her husband.
Another extremely famous painting called "The Starry Night" painted by Vincent Van Gogh. This painting was different than most of Van Gogh's paints for he took time with this painting and each swirl. He painted this while in an asylum, and said that it was one of his "inferior works."
This piece of art was painted by the famous Johannes Vermeer, and is thought to be a portrait of Johannes' daughter. The pearl symbolizes truth, loyalty, purity, wisdom, and achieving difficult goals.
"American Gothic" was illustrated by Grant Wood represents the emotional reaction to the great depression. It also depicts the family of a midwestern family on the farm.
